Clarify......
On my blog I have talked some about the negative responses that my husband and I have received about adopting a baby from Ethiopia and I wanted to elaborate a little on that. We have received some not so nice comments and I am learning how to handle that, as we speak. I don't think that it is the town as much as the people in the town. I would say that the town is pretty diverse as far as black and white issues go.....we also have a growing hispanic population. I think the problem comes from the specific (white)people in this town who have "old school" confederate minds. I don't mean to be stereotypical and I am apologizing in advance.....but this is the beauty of free speech, right? Basically, there are alot of Country redneck ignorant people around here in Jackson, TN. The town is about 55% white and 42% black, but it doesn't stop these people from flying their confederate flags(literally). I am not saying that everyone is like this, the people that Blake and I are close to are not.....we have a great support system of friends and family. I guess I just wish that I lived somewhere where they people embraced the diversity and cherished it, instead of running from it. I hope someday that we can move to Nashville or my dream city *New York*, which is much bigger and more of a metropolis :) You can see the demographics of Jackson, TN here.

Ooohh! Nothing gets my feathers in a rustle quicker than a pick-up truck with a confederate flag hanging off the back. I live in the north and we have two or three in our area. Seriously, I want to stop them and say two things to them:
1. You live in the north and the confederacy was in the south.
2. THEY LOST! What is the confederate flag for? What are you showing pride in?
Okay, I hope I didn't tick off any southern people, it just seems all that more stupid in the north. Know what I mean? Not only that, I find it personally offensive.
I also find it offensive!
